Rucci exhibition ends Sunday

The Chado Ralph Rucci exhibition, currently at the Kent State University Museum in Rockwell Hall, will close Sunday.

The exhibit features 75 of Rucci’s designs from 1981 to 2005. This is the first public exhibit of only Rucci’s work, as well as the first of this magnitude.

Rucci has been designing for more than 20 years and in 2001 became the first American designer in 50 years to show his couture line with Paris Haute Couture collections, according to

www.artnet.com.

Anne Bissonnette, museum curator, said she was in New York when she saw a few of Rucci’s designs and was so impressed by their shape and color, she decided to try to bring them to Kent State.

Bissonnette describes Rucci as “an exception to the rule,” and said no one else puts the effort and work into their work like he does.

“You are never going to see this type of quality and craftsmanship in contemporary design,” Bissonnette said.
