Flashes gain national honors, prepare for OSU Invitational

The Kent State women’s golf team is making national headlines.
The team was honored as Golfweek’s Women’s Team of the Week for its win at the Northwestern Invitational. The Flashes won the invitational by 11 shots at the Gary Player Signature Course in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Sophomore Tara Delaney was named the tournament’s individual winner finishing at one under par. She was also awarded the collegiate women’s player of the week in Golf World magazine and Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.
On the first day of the tournament, the Flashes shot 21-under par and carded seven sub-par rounds. Seniors Becky Wood and Kira Meixner recorded rounds in the 60s.
After winning the Shoot-out at the Legends in the fall, the Northwestern Invitational becomes the Flashes’ second victory.
Kent State will compete at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational this weekend in the team’s last tune-up before the MAC Championships April 28 to 30 where it will defend its seven consecutive crowns.
