Lecture series ends tonight in Ballroom

The Pilliod Lecture Series will end at 6 p.m. tonight in the Student Center Ballroom with speaker P. Kelly Tomkins presenting “Women in Business — An Economic Priority.”

Tomkins serves as president of the Cleveland Bar Association and senior vice president, secretary and general counsel of RPM International Inc. Prior to joining RPM in 1996 as assistant general counsel, he held various positions with Reliance Electric Company, including senior corporate counsel, director of corporate development, director of investor and public relations and product marketing manager.

Tompkins is a trustee of the non-profit Cleveland Bar Foundation and chair of the Visiting Committee of Cleveland State’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He also is a frequent speaker and panelist on various legal and business-related topics.

Katie Murtha, senior advertising major, said students should attend the Pilliod Lecture Series for several reasons.

“It is beneficial to learn from people who have already experienced the real world,” Murtha said. “It also gives you an edge because the majority of students don’t attend the lectures to learn these valuable lessons.”

The Pilliod Lecture Series began in 1987 and was created to address topics of interest and importance to both the academic and business communities.
