Robinson breaks records, named Pitcher of the Week

For the third time this season, junior pitcher Brittney Robinson was selected as the Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week.

Robinson shattered school and personal records in games against Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan last week. Against Central Michigan, she tossed her third no-hitter of the season and fourth no-hitter of her career, setting new school records in both categories.

Robinson also broke her own personal-best of 193 strikeouts in a single season, registering 215 thus far. She now becomes the first Kent State softball pitcher to tally more than 200 strikeouts in a single season.

In addition, she has thrown 10 or more strikeouts in 13 games, also setting a new school record.

Robinson, who has a 13-9 overall record and 4-0 MAC record, led the Flashes last week with 46 strikeouts in 26 innings in four games. She also batted .400 with three runs scored, three RBIs and two doubles.

Kent State (14-18, 4-3 MAC) will travel to Athens this weekend for a doubleheader against Ohio at 1 p.m. Friday.
