Stark campus to host world sing-along
March 9, 2006
The “World’s Largest Concert” will be held at Kent State Stark campus today at noon.
The “concert” is actually a time when groups of students around the world will all sing together in support of music education in schools. It will be broadcast on WVIZ and the PAX network today at 1 p.m.
As part of Music in Our Schools month, the Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association (OCMEA) has invited every student at the Stark campus and Stark State College to join in the concert, said OCMEA president and senior marketing major Jillian Fecich.
“I hope people want music education in their schools, and I hope people come,” Fecich said.
This is the third year for the concert at the branch campus and the 22nd year for the Music Educators’ National Conference (MENC) event.
Last year about 20 people attended the concert, Fecich said, but she is expecting more this year.
The event is free and open to the public.
