KentLINK crash will not affect students
March 22, 2006
The KentLINK system students and faculty use to find documents suffered major hardware failure around midnight yesterday.
Tom Klingler, assistant dean of technical services in the Library, said the server crashed about a dozen times last night and the hardware problems started Saturday.
Klingler said a new server is being shipped overnight from California and should be at the Library in the morning. The server should be in place by about 2 p.m. tomorrow, but Klingler said that depends on how fast it can be shipped.
Anyone trying to access the KentLINK server will come across a link to the OhioLINK server. The OhioLINK server has been reformatted so that anyone trying to access it can still have access to the catalogue and do everything he or she could in KentLINK.
“They can still request documents and books the same way they did in KentLINK,” Klingler said.
