Parking permits will increase in price for the Fall 2006/Spring 2007 semesters.
Randy Ristow, Parking Services’ assistant director of public safety, said fees have been adjusted to cover the cost of parking expansion projects, lot maintenance and to help relieve Parking Services’ $1 million debt. Permit prices have risen every year since 2004 as part of a two-year plan to increase revenue.
Ristow said the new parking lot to replace Terrace Hall had little to do with the price increase.
“Over the past five years, Parking Services has spent over $7 million in parking upgrades,” Ristow said. “The new permit prices should help us decrease debt and hopefully allow us to build up a little reserve for future projects.”
While prices of Fall and Spring permits increase, the cost of summer permits will remain the same.
