Flashes left fielder earns MAC Hitter of the Week title

For the second straight week, senior left fielder Kurt Eichorn was named Mid-American Conference East Division Hitter of the Week.

It is also the third straight week a Kent State player has received the award, as junior third baseman Andrew Davis was honored March 6.

Eichorn led the Flashes in hitting against Elon last weekend, going 7-for-11 in the three-game series. In his 15 plate appearances, Eichorn hit a double and two home runs, while driving in six runs and scoring four times.

Friday and Saturday’s games marked the third and fourth time Eichorn had three-hit games this season.

In the past two weekends, he has gone 13-for-22 with four home runs, 13 RBI and nine runs scored.

Leading the Flashes in five categories, Eichorn has an on-base percentage of .507, is 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts and has not committed a field error this season.

He currently has .404 hitting, seven home runs, 23 RBI, 18 runs scored and .865 slugging.

Kent State will begin MAC regular season play this weekend in a three-game series at Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich.
