Wagler earns MAC honors after game against Vanderbilt

The Kent State baseball team’s top senior pitcher Chad Wagler was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week Monday.

In the Flashes’ (3-3) 2-1 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, Wagler became the only Kent State pitcher to throw a complete game this season. He only allowed one unearned run and three hits. He posted three strikeouts as well.

Wagler has started two games and has a team-best 1.29 earned run average.

In the 18th round of the 2005 First Year Player Draft, Wagler was selected by the San Francisco Giants, but chose to stay for his senior season before playing professionally.

The Flashes will be on the road again this weekend at Winthrop for a three-game series in Rock Hill, S.C.
