HIV testing at Health Center
March 15, 2006
The Office of Health Promotion and University Health Services is offering free anonymous HIV testing today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 4 through 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and April 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Office of Health Promotion on the second floor of DeWeese Health Center.
The testing is provided by the Community AIDS Network, said Scott Dotterer, coordinator of the Office of Health Promotion.
“The April 4th and 5th testing dates were recently added and represents a collaborative effort between PRIDE!Kent, Community AIDS Network and the Office of Health Promotion to create a greater awareness of HIV/AIDS and the importance of knowing one’s HIV status,” he said.
The human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV, is a virus that weakens the body’s immune system until it can no longer fight off illnesses. HIV is transmitted from an HIV-positive person through infected body fluids.
