February 1, 2006
For the second time in two weeks, Kent State women’s basketball forward Lindsay Shearer was named Mid-American Conference Division East Player of the Week for her contributions in last week’s games against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.
The Flashes split last week 1-1, falling 65-55 to the Eagles Wednesday and recovering for a victory against Central Saturday afternoon. Shearer averaged 24 points and 8.5 rebounds last week, allowing Kent State (12-6, 5-2 MAC) to remain
second in the MAC East.
In the loss to Eastern Michigan, Shearer scored a game-high 22 points and added four rebounds.
Against Central Michigan, Shearer went 24-of-26 from the foul line and shot 45.8 percent from the field against the Chippewas. She currently leads the MAC in scoring with 20.1 points per game.
This marks the third time this season Shearer has been honored by the conference and the ninth time in her career.
