Relay for Life kick-off meeting today

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is holding a kick-off rally from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. tonight in the loge on the third floor of the M.A.C. Center.

The rally is an informational meeting for those interested in Relay for Life. The meeting will cover details about the event and how to register teams online.

“Relay for Life is one of the American Cancer Society’s main events,” said Lindsay Jakab, junior marketing major and public relations co-chair for Kent State’s Relay for Life 2006.

The event is focused on raising money for research and programs for the American Cancer Society.

“As you may know, many people are affected by cancer,” Jakab said.

Jakab said this past year Kent State lost two people from the Athletic Department because of cancer: Mike Drake and Isaac Perkins.

The fourth annual Relay for Life will be held April 29. The theme for this year is “Game Night Win the Fight.”

The rally is open to the public and food and prizes will be provided.
