Kent State hosts Delaware State in first home game

The Kent State men’s basketball team will begin its regular season at 7 p.m. tonight at the M.A.C. Center.

The Flashes are hosting Delaware State as a part of the South Padre Island Invitational.

The Flashes won their only exhibition game against Muskingum, 71-52, on Nov. 13.

Last season, the Flashes went 20-13 overall and 11-7 in the Mid-American Conference. They finished in the No. 2 spot in the MAC East and had their fourth appearance in the past seven years at the National Invitation Tournament.

The Flashes lead the all-time series with Delaware State, 2-0. The last time the Flashes saw Delaware State was in the 1978-79 season. They topped Delaware State, 58-55.

Delaware State fell in its season opener at UCLA, 56-37.

Last season, Delaware State finished with a 19-13 overall record, winning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and getting a bid to the NCAA Tournament, but fell to the top-seeded Duke in the first round.

The Flashes will take on Austin Peay State in the next round of the South Padre Island Invitational at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the M.A.C. Center.
