And the award goes to …

The annual Golden Flash Awards, sponsored by Kent Interhall Council, is tonight at 6 in the Student Center Cafeteria.

The masquerade-themed event is to honor the on-campus residents and hall councils.

“It’s our way of saying thanks to hall councils for everything they do and to show we wouldn’t be here without them,” said Jennifer Tabatabaie, director of community development.

Fifteen awards will be given out, including Hall of the Semester and Hall of the Year. These awards are based on the number of Hall of the Semester Points halls acquire.

There are also awards for hall council of the year and awards for each position in hall council, such as president.

Resident assistants and resident hall directors are also honored, along with advisers.

The Banana Camper Award is chosen by the president and vice presidents of KIC to honor a general council member who sticks out at meetings and programs and contributes to KIC without being on the executive board.

Outstanding Leadership Service pins will be distributed as will the Hall of Excellence award and Royal Flush Awards.

The 2005-06 KIC president will be inducted and take an oath of office at the awards ceremony.
