Arts and Sciences to hold seminar to discuss evolution

Brief

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, the College of Arts and Sciences will host a mini-symposium at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Kiva.

Evolution Across Disciplines: Paradigms, Patterns and Processes will bring together scholars from the College of Arts and Sciences to present and discuss varied approaches to the study of evolution.

“We hope this will allow students to look at evolution from different perspectives,” said John Stalvey, professor of biological sciences and associate dean of graduate affairs. “Because the College of Arts and Sciences is so diverse, we will explore evolution from a variety speakers.”

Presenters at the event will bring viewpoints from the social sciences, humanities and biological sciences departments.

Evolution Across Disciplines is free and open to the public. A reception will be held in room 204 of the Student Center immediately following the mini-symposium.
