Lawson, Mally compete in Arkansas Razorback Invitational

This weekend TJ Lawson and Jacob Mally competed in the heptathlon event at the Arkansas Razorback Invitational.  The heptathlon includes a 60m dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m run. The Invitational took place at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. 

When talking to Lawson he expressed his excitement for this meet. 

“I am excited to run the 60m and pole vault this weekend. Both of these events have been going well in practice, so I’m excited to see results,” Lawson said. 

On Friday, Lawson started the competition with a personal record of 7.03 in the 60-meter dash. He also got second in the long jump and shot put.  Johannes Erm from the University of Georgia finished first in the long jump and Karel Tilga from the University of Georgia finished first in the shot put. 

Mally finished the day in 12th place of the heptathlon. Mally also received top ten finishes in long jump and high jump. In long jump, his final distance was 21ft 11in. He also marked 6ft 2in in high jump. 

On Saturday, Lawson and Mally finished in the top 10 of the heptathlon. 

TJ Lawson finished in 4th place. Lawson finished in the top five in the six out seven events. 

“No matter what, when I put in a KSU uniform, I give it my 100 percent. This meet is very important, and has a stacked field. I’m just ready to compete and have fun. The main goal is to punch my ticket to New Mexico.” Lawson said. 

Lawson placed 5th in the 60m dash, 2nd in long jump and shot put, 12th in the 60m hurdles, 4th in high jump and 1000m run and 1st in pole vault. He now qualifies for the NCAA Indoor Championship. 

Mally finished in 8th place of the heptathlon. He finished in 10th place in the pole vault, high jump and long jump. He finished in the top 10 in four out of the 10 events.
