The Biden campaign is seizing on former President

The Biden campaign is seizing on former President Donald Trump’s recent threat to repeal Obamacare, marking their latest effort to sound the alarm on the GOP frontrunner’s policy vision.

The campaign is readying surrogates, messaging pushes and a TV ad aimed at drawing a stark contrast between President Joe Biden’s work to improve health care and costs related to it, and Trump’s approach. And it comes at a time when the Affordable Care Act is seeing a spike in sign ups for 2024 coverage in the initial weeks of open enrollment.

The Biden campaign’s push is the latest step in a strategy to put Trump’s policy proposals front and center as they seek to draw a starker contrast with the GOP frontrunner heading into 2024. Recent polling has shown the former president leading Biden in key battleground states and on the national level. The Biden campaign views the health care fight as fruitful ground as Republican efforts to repeal Obamacare have repeatedly failed, prompting some in the GOP to refrain from campaigning to push for its end.

For the second straight season, Michigan and Ohio

For the second straight season, Michigan and Ohio State met as the second and third-ranked teams in the nation. Both have an 11-0 record.

Once again, it was the Maize and Blue defeating the Buckeyes with a 30-24 victory.

The game started off with a pair of punts for both teams.

Harry. Liam. Niall. Louis. Zayn. You know them as One Direction (1D), but how well do you REALLY know them? Today I’m going to be talking about some history, fun facts and my personal love for 1D in honor of their albums “Up All Night,” released Nov. 18, 2011, “Take Me Home,” released Nov. 9th, 2012, “Midnight Memories,” released Nov. 25, 2013, “Four,” released Nov. 17, 2014 and last but not least, “Made In The A.M.,” released Nov. 13, 2015. That’s a LOT of anniversaries!

Now, I’ve been a fan of One Direction since I was 12-years-old. I saw them in concert TWICE! Once for the Where We Are Tour, and once for On the Road Again in 2014 and 2015 respectively. I saw them in Philadelphia first. My mom got the tickets for her and I and she turned it into a nice family vacation. It was supposed to be a “once in a lifetime” thing, seeing my favorite band live. Well, the boys had other plans. They came to Cleveland the next year, so I got to see them again. In Philly, 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) was opening and Zayn was still with the band. In Cleveland, it was after the “incident.” Fun fact, Zayn left the band March 23 of 2015. I cried for 3 hours that day. I’ve definitely done some growing up since then.

I still adore 1D, and I feel I always will. I have so many memories because of them, like watching them for the Olympics on the TV, sitting in my room with five devices looping the “Steal My Girl” music video trying to break the record, collecting copious amounts of merch and still wanting more (one day I will get that One Direction record player) or watching the video diaries from their X Factor days. To put things in perspective on how much they changed my life, I’m going to make a little list.

The university is scheduled to take over operation

The university is scheduled to take over operations for the Paris American Academy to create a new study abroad program in France. Vice President for Global Education Marcello Fantoni says Kent State will begin managing the academy in January 2025.

“We have one of the best fashion schools in the world, it makes sense that we continue the legacy of the Paris American Academy plus also expand the Kent State study abroad presence in France,” he said. “But we’ll take the opportunity to establish in Paris study abroad programs for students from other Kent State colleges such as architecture, business, et cetera.”

According to the academy’s website, the Paris American Academy was founded in 1965 by American musician Richard Roy to create a place for international students to study art and fashion. Fantoni says the Paris American Academy has one of the world’s most prestigious fashion schools.

First major snow of the year strikes Kent

Students in the Progressive and Vernacular Music M

Students in the Progressive and Vernacular Music Methods class will perform original songs and covers Thursday at their end of semester performance at the Rathskeller.

The band, which will perform under the name Friendship Bracelet, is composed of music education students from the voice, orchestra and band programs. The group will take the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rathskeller located in the Student Center basement. Entry is free.

Playing in the band has been an opportunity for the students to express themselves creatively while playing different instruments, junior music education major Mia Vela said.

The Kent State women’s basketball team is now 3-

The Kent State women’s basketball team is now 3-2 after splitting its games in the Daytona Beach Classic.

KSU lost to Chattanooga 64-54 on Friday and defeated Missouri 67-64 on Saturday.

Against Chattanooga (6-1), Kent State had a season-high 32 points in the paint but struggled with scoring jump shots, finishing 2-of-22 from behind the three-point arc.

Kent State men’s basketball has allowed opponent

Kent State men’s basketball has allowed opponents to score more than 80 points once this season.

On Sunday, the Flashes (4-3) lost to the College of Charleston (3-3) 84-78.

“They made a ton of winning plays when they needed to, and they’re a tough team,” coach Rob Senderoff said. “There are a lot of championship-level players on their roster, and they competed that way, especially down the stretch.”

The once-thriving, free outdoor ice skating rink i

The once-thriving, free outdoor ice skating rink in downtown Kent, established by a host of community sponsors, has announced its permanent closure. The rink, which provided a cool escape for families and individuals during challenging times, has fallen victim to the rising costs that accompany maintaining such a unique community space.

It was originally hailed as a creative solution to encourage outdoor activities while adhering to social distancing measures. It was sponsored by pillars of the community, including the city of Kent, Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center, Kent Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Kent, and Kent State University as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout its time downtown, families and friends of the Kent community found community in the rink.

However, the financial burden of maintaining the rink has proven insurmountable, according to Dana Lawless-Andric, associate Vice President of University Engagement & Outreach.

White picket fence, 2.1 children, a home and spouse to greet you at the end of the day. Maybe a dog, who knows? Many of us pictured the classic suburban dream when our teachers asked us what our future looked like a decade ago. While that might not be quite the goal anymore, the majority of Gen Z does see marriage in their future. Unfortunately, the likelihood of having a life partner, legally recognized or otherwise, is lower than ever.

All of those lofty ideals we had for potential romantic partners as children have mostly fallen away now, and our minds go towards all of the obstacles to love instead of the possibility of its success. Especially as college students, our experiences largely trend towards dating apps, hookups, situationships and talking phases. The stuff of fairy tales.

Despite our rather bleak present, most of Gen Z remains hopeful for the future and the prospect of a family, a loyal spouse and support system far into our old age. In all likelihood, those hopes and dreams will amount to very little. For many, marriage won’t be an experience they have at all, and for others, their lifelong commitment will end in divorce, potentially leading to another lifelong commitment, potentially ending in yet another divorce.
