Quarterback Dustin Crum (7) hands the ball off to running back Marquez Cooper (1) during the football game against University of Buffalo on Oct. 9, 2021. Kent State beat Univeristy of Buffalo 48-38.

Quarterback Dustin Crum was awarded with three honors for his performance in the Kent State football team’s 48-38 win over the University at Buffalo.

Crum was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week, the third Flash to win a weekly conference honor this season.

In addition to the MAC honor, Crum was named to Davey O’Brien Award’s “Great Eight of the Week,” a weekly award given to the eight best quarterbacks in all of college football.

The final honor Crum received was the Manning Award’s “Stars of the Week.” The weekly award is given to eight college quarterbacks each week. Fans then vote on the player that they think had the best performance by liking the picture of them on the Allstate Sugar Bowl’s Facebook page. The QB who receives the most votes is named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week, and this week’s winner will be announced Thursday at noon.

Crum had 479 total yards of offense against the Bulls. He threw for 407 passing yards, the most by a KSU quarterback since 1997, and three touchdown passes. He also had 72 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Crum’s performance is tied for second on the Kent State all-time list.

The Flashes take on Western Michigan University (1-1 MAC, 4-2 overall) Saturday in Kalamazoo, Michigan at 3:30 p.m.
