Kent State pays for security at O’Rourke’s appearance

Potential Democratic Nominee for the 2020 election, Beto O’Rourke, came to visit Kent State University this past Wednesday where he spoke to students about his campaign and hopes for the election.

Along with O’Rourke, about 15 security officers accompanied him on Risman Plaza, where they kept watch and helped ensure his safety.

With important events such as this one where maximum security is required to keep the peace, it’s important to think about who ends up signing the check for the hefty price.

I spoke with Community Resource Officer, Tricia Knoles, and she told me that in this case, it was the university.

Kent State Student Affairs has a policy that states any costs are covered by the University.
