The rainy weather at the Cleveland Browns Stadium may have been a struggle for the Bengals to adjust to, but the Browns powered through and came out with a strong finish. Ja’Marr Chase’s comments from earlier this week announcing the Browns as “elves” have slightly updated due to the sore loss.
“I’m just frustrated because I called their (butts) elves, and we just lost to some elves,” Chase told reporters following the loss.
Yes, Chase. You indeed lost to “some elves.”
Not only did the Browns dominate Ohio native Joe Burrow, but they won their first home opener since 2004 with a final score of 24-3.
Back in July 2014, Burrow tweeted, “I have decided to become a bandwagon Browns fan everybody.”
This tweet remains published on his account to this day. Someone may want to let him know there is still time to delete it.
Although the first half was tough to watch, the Browns did what needed to be done in the second half.
From the defense to the offense, Cleveland worked together to get the win.
Deshaun Watson got his first touchdown in the first half by way of a 13-yard touchdown run. He later added a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Harrison Bryant in the fourth quarter. Watson finished with 154 passing yards.
Nick Chubb led the team’s rushing offense with 106 yards on 18 carries.
Myles Garrett’s only sack came on fourth down with 10:27 left to help secure their win over the back-to-back AFC North Champions.
The Browns have won six out of the last seven games played against the Bengals, with five out of six being against Burrow.
The Browns will now take on their rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, at Acrisure Stadium on Monday Night Football.
As for a prediction of what may happen in this game, considering the turnaround from the first half of the game Sunday, the outcome may help the Browns carry on their momentum throughout the week.
As long as the team stays healthy and continues the same energy against the Bengals, it should make for a great game.
