About Us
KentWired is a collaborative effort of student journalists working for The Kent Stater and TV2, both independent student media outlets at Kent State University. News, sports and opinion article are published daily to the site, along with various other informative and entertaining journalistic content, including horoscopes, photo stories and quizzes. KentWired also acts as a hub to connect all student media publications by featuring their content, as well.
The Kent Stater
The Kent Stater is an award-winning student-run newspaper which published its first paper in 1926, under the name “The Searchlight.” Soon, the paper’s name changed to The Daily Kent Stater, and throughout the following decades, its staff published weekly papers to five-days-a-week issues, and everything in between. With a staff of over 80 students, it now publishes special editions print papers in addition to daily online coverage on KentWired.com.
For the fall 2023 semester, The Kent Stater will publish three print editions: A Welcome Edition at the beginning of the school year and two broadsheet papers, one in October and one at the end of the semester.
TV2
TV2 is a student-run television station that streams on KentWired. The station features live news at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, along with entertainment, sports programming and live election night coverage. TV2 is an affiliate of the Open Student Television Network.
All three publications are a part of Kent State Student Media. Visit the site to learn more about student media.
