Oklahoma beats Texas in the last minute of The Red River Rivalry

Oklahoma got revenge on Texas in dramatic fashion, winning 34-30 thanks to a late touchdown pass to give the Sooners the lead. 

After a wild start featuring two interceptions by Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and an Oklahoma punt that was blocked in the endzone left, the two tied 7-7.

A Sooner field goal followed by a Texas touchdown put the Longhorns in front 14-10. 

However, Oklahoma  steadily outplayed the Longhorns from the middle of the second quarter to early in the third, outscoring them 17-3 and taking a 27-17 lead.

Texas then scored the following 13 points, three of which came from a Bert Auburn kick with 1:17 left, giving the Burnt Orange a 30-27 lead.

Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel took the Sooners down the field in five plays — the last of which was a game-winning three-yard touchdown pass to Nic Anderson with 15 seconds left.

Both teams will follow up the big game with a bye week.

Ohio State overcomes 10-0 deficit against Maryland, improves to 5-0

Maryland appeared to have Ohio State’s number in the first half, but the Buckeyes slowly began to wake up and eventually overpowered the Terrapins. 

Needing a spark while down 10-0, the defense scored the first points for OSU as Josh Proctor picked off Taulia Tagovailoa and took it in for six points. 

The Buckeyes  then scored a field goal before halftime to tie the game 10-10. 

They played an impressive second half, outscoring Maryland 27-7. 

The defense picked off Tagovailoa a second time and closed the game strong, surrendering zero fourth-quarter points. 

The offense once again looked slow to start the game, gaining under 130 yards in the first half. However, they would gain over 250 yards in the second half, finding multiple big plays through the air. 

The offensive line was subpar, resulting in just 62 rush yards. It is safe to say the offensive line will have to be better when it comes time to play Penn State and Michigan.

Alabama gets by Texas A&M in College Station

The Tide avenged their loss from their last trip to Kyle Field in 2021 by a score of 26-20.

After each team scored a first quarter field goal, the Aggies would outscore the Crimson Tide 14-7 in the second, taking a 17-10 lead into halftime.

After exchanging interceptions to start the second half, Alabama’s offense scored 14 points in the third quarter while its defense gave up nothing to Texas A&M. 

The Crimson Tide defense continued to shut down the Aggies in the fourth quarter, only allowing a late field goal.

Alabama now has sole possession of the SEC West as the team improves to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Georgia dismantles Kentucky in Sanford Stadium

The Bulldogs finally played like a No. 1 team, beating No. 20 Kentucky 51-13.

The game was over shortly after it started, with the score being 21-0, Georgia, 19 minutes into the game. 

Things only got worse from there as Georgia took a 34-7 halftime lead before outscoring the Wildcats 17-6 in the second half.

Bulldogs’ quarterback Carson Beck played his best game in his young Georgia career, recording 389 yards and four touchdowns. The Georgia run game racked up an impressive 173 yards as well.

Kentucky appeared to not be ready to take on the top-ranked team in the country. On defense, the team continually left receivers wide open, and on offense, it had just one drive of more than 30 yards. 

The Bulldogs have now won 23 consecutive games, with their last loss coming at the hands of Alabama (41-24) in the 2021 South Eastern Conference Championship game. 

Louisville picks up signature win against Notre Dame

The Cardinals put themselves on the map with a 33-20 victory over the Irish. 

A slow first half left the two tied 7-7 heading into the break. The Irish picked up a field goal after a Louisville fumble to start the second half, but the Cardinals answered with a field goal of their own to tie it back up. 

That was one of six consecutive second-half drives that resulted in points for Louisville, as they slowly overwhelmed the Irish, outscoring them 26-13 in the second half. 

The defense overpowered Notre Dame, sacking veteran quarterback Sam Hartman five times, picking him off three times, and recovering two fumbles. 

The Cardinals vaulted up 11 spots in the AP Poll to No. 14 and will look to stay unbeaten next week as they travel to Pittsburgh (1-4, 0-2).
