As part of Kent’s third-annual Rainbow Weekend, students, staff and community members gathered to participate in the eighth annual Rainbow Run.
Over 300 participants, adorned with glowsticks, strings of lights and shining accessories, ran or walked a 5K marathon across campus.
Funds raised from the run go to the LGBTQ+ Center’s emergency fund for LGBTQ+ students in dire circumstances. The fund has helped 57 students, said Ken Ditlevson, director of Kent State University’s LGBTQ+ Center.
“Without your support and your generosity, these students may not have finished their semester – and they definitely wouldn’t have gotten to graduation,” Ditlevson said.
More Rainbow Weekend events are listed on Main Street Kent’s website.
