From sushi restaurants to bagel cafés, undergrad students spilled their favorite places to grab a meal.
Amidst the diverse answers, one recurring place, and meal, stood out: pizza from Rosie’s Diner and Market.
Located in the Tri-Towers Rotunda, Rosie’s Diner is a spot, working with students’ meal exchange, that provides students with deli sandwiches, pizza options and diner foods, such as chicken tenders, burgers and fries. Rosie’s also has gluten-free options, such as cauliflower pizza crusts.
“Rosie’s is my favorite place to eat on campus,” said Meara Shapaka, a sophomore interior design major. “Rosie’s is a fun environment with all the students there.”
Alyssa Ullom, a sophomore exploratory major, also said Rosie’s is her favorite place to eat on campus.
“I like that it’s open late and my favorite meal is the barbecue pizza,” Ullom said.
As for off-campus options, Hope Hyde, a senior physics major, said Pacific East is her favorite place to eat off campus. Pacific East, a Japanese and Malaysian restaurant located on East Main St, is open seven days a week and offers different types of sushi, poke bowls, hibachi and more for eat-in or take-out.
“I like Pacific East because they have really good food,” Hyde said. “Their servers are always nice, and I like to support local businesses.”
Hyde said Einstein Bros Bagels’ sesame bagel is her favorite meal on campus. Einstein Bros Bagels is located on the first floor of the Student Center. It serves coffee, bagels, breakfast sandwiches and other specialty breakfast items.
“I like Einstein’s because they have good coffee,” Hyde said.
On September 11, @barstoolkent on Instagram surveyed students on their favorite places to eat off campus.
The final rankings, in order, were Barrio, Mike’s Place, Ray’s Place, Franklin Square Deli and Taco Tontos.
“Barrio is my favorite place to eat off campus because they make their own tacos,” Shapaka said.
Barrio, a taco joint located on South Water Street, offers tacos, taco bowls, draft beer, select margaritas and more to the public.
Ullom said Mike’s Place is her favorite place to eat off campus because she likes their buffalo chicken sliders. The independent family-owned restaurant with a menu more than five pages long features items from burgers to omelets to jumbo wings.
“I like the environment of the restaurant,” Ullom said.
