Julian Edelman will soon be a Kent State graduate.

On Saturday, Edelman will join the 5,301 students graduating from Kent State.

Edelman, 31, spent three years at Kent State, throwing for almost 5,000 yards and 30 touchdowns as the Flashes’ quarterback from 2006-2008. Edelman never completed his degree, leaving Kent State after his senior season to train for the NFL. Edelman is listed in the student directory as a senior integrated studies major.

Edelman was drafted by the New England Patriots, a place where he morphed from a special team after thought to Tom Brady’s favorite target. Edelman is a three-time Super Bowl champion who always seems to come up in the clutch. 

In Super Bowl XLIX Edelman recorded 109 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots win. In Super Bowl LI Edelman made a fingertip catch in the waning minutes to help push the Patriots towards a win. And this past season Edelman had his best showing on the big stage, recording 141 receiving yards on 10 catches en route to being named Super Bowl MVP. 

In 2015 Edelman served as the Grand Marshal of Kent State’s Homecoming parade and was inducted into Kent State’s Varsity “K” Hall of Fame.
