The Kent State lacrosse team continued its trend of starting strong offensively in its Sunday game against Jacksonville.

The Flashes got on the board first on a Kelli Bailey goal that came off an assist from Megan Kozar. But the strong offensive start wasn’t enough for Kent State, however, as the Flashes fell to Jacksonville, 23-4.

The Gamecocks tied the game three minutes into the game on a goal from Alyssa Arnold on an assist from Jenny Kinsey.

Jacksonville took the lead in he fourth and fifth minutes on back-to-back goals from Hayley Ciklin and Arnold.

The Gamecocks went on to score a total of 18 goals in the first half as the Kent State’s defense struggled to hold off the Gamecocks.

The last goal of the day for Kent State was from Graceyn Dean on an assist from Anna Woodhams. The Flashes were held to only 10 shots on goal, while Jacksonville had 29 attempts.

Kent also struggled to secure draw controls losing 21-8 while also committing 14 turnovers.

Goalie Grace Merrill had five saves while allowing 22 goals, while Bridgette Kiefer had one save and one goal allowed for the Flashes.

Kent State’s next game will be Thursday, April 11 at 3 p.m. The Flashes will face off against Kennesaw State at Dix Stadium.
