Editor’s note: Inaccurate information on where Brock found aid following her move to the United States was removed from the article.
In February 2022, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Olga Brock, 46, was forced to relocate herself to the United States.
Coming to America alone, she had to deal with the uncertainty of what she would do, and if she would ever be able to return home again.
Brock saw herself growing up in her native country of Ukraine where she dreamt of becoming a physician. As Brock got older, she stayed close to home and began working in real estate.
“I was very scared when I arrived,” Brock said. “You don’t know what is going to happen next or what you are going to do.”
Brock, now living and working in Nokomis, Florida as a real estate agent, said she must thank fellow community members for her life that she currently has, but she still wants to return home to Ukraine soon.
“I love life here in the United States, but I still dream to return home to Ukraine,” Brock said. “I think every day, the importance of having faith and hope can help anybody going through a large challenge.”
Brock cites her faith as playing a large role in her ability to transition to a new life here in the United States.
“Faith is very important to me, and I can say it played a large part in helping me start this next chapter in my life,” Brock said.
