There is a long but exciting season ahead for the women’s club volleyball team, according to co-president Alexis Zienka.
“It’s just an adventure honestly, with your team,” Zienka said.
The women’s club volleyball season runs through both semesters, with nationals taking place at the end of the spring.
According to Kent State University’s website, “The purpose of women’s club volleyball is to compete with other colleges and universities in tournaments while representing Kent State University in a positive manner.”
Zienka and Natalie Lambert, the other co-president of the club, said they are helping prepare the team for this upcoming season.
With this being the first time both Lambert and Zienka get to take the team to nationals, they said the season is looking exciting.
The team is set to play in three different tournaments before taking on nationals.
On Feb. 17, the team will host an all-day tournament at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
From there, they will travel to Ohio State to play in tournaments on March 3 and 4.
“Tournaments basically just run all day,” Lambert said. “So we do pool play, which normally has four teams in each pool. Based on how you do there, you get put into a bracket.”
Once these tournaments are over, the team can focus on preparing for nationals, which runs from April 18 to April 21.
