Kent State’s track and field team attended one meet on the road on Friday.
They attended the Al Campbell Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
With this being a lighter weekend with only one meet, the team is gearing up for the MAC Championship.
Men’s team
Layne Studer
Freshman Layne Studer cleared 17’-5.5” in the pole vault. Yet again, another new personal best in the men’s pole vault.
Studer has set a personal record three weeks in a row.
He now stands at the third spot on the Golden Flashes’ all-time indoor performance list.
Women’s team
Andrea Filote
Junior Andrea Filote took the fastest time in the women’s 60-meter hurdles preliminaries with 8.73.
She then took third in the finals with a time of 8.77.

Gabrielle Hammonds
Redshirt sophomore Gabrielle Hammonds won the women’s 60-meter hurdles in 8.69 seconds.
She placed second in the preliminaries.
Liam Vinskovich
Junior Liam Vinskovich took first place in the men’s high jump by clearing 7’-0.25”.
He is ranked 39th in the men’s high jump at 7’-0.5”.

Moving forward, the Flashes have the MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend from Feb. 23 to Feb. 24 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
