Kent State’s track and field team attended the Mid-American Conference Championship on the road beginning Feb. 23 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. 

The men’s track and field team came out victorious by fifteen points. 

This will be their second MAC Conference Indoor Championship in program history. The last time they won this championship was in 2009. 

Head Coach Nathan Fanger received MAC Coach of the Year honors for bringing the team to victory. 

Men’s team

Ayden Bath 

At the MAC Indoor Championships, sophomore Ayden Bath won the heptathlon, earning a personal best of 5,441 points.

Bath tied for second in the high jump with a personal record of 6’-8.25”.

On top of that, he added a personal record of 7.92 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, earning fourth place. 

Senior Ethan Yost missed his best from last weekend at the Meyo Invitational (4:03.25). 

Sean Callahan Jr. 

Freshman Sean Callahan Jr. was one of the individuals crowned a MAC Champion. 

He got this title from his excellent performance in the 60-meter run. He placed first with a time of 6.78 seconds. 

Callahan also placed 5th in the men’s 200-meter run with 22.10 seconds.

Women’s team 

Gabrielle Bailey

In her only event, senior Gabrielle Bailey won the women’s shot put at the MAC Indoor Championships with a throw of 15.97m.  

Women’s 4×400 Team

The 4×400 team included graduate student Jericha Petrella, senior Taylor Korytkowski, senior Alexandria Verbancic, and freshman Amryne Chilton. 

The team ran a 3:45.80, which placed them in second.

Moving forward, the Flashes have some time off, and when they return, they will attend the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Massachusetts, beginning on March 8.
