Best of Kent 2019
Winner: Wild Goats Cafe
Located just outside downtown Kent on West Main Street, the Wild Goats Cafe is an almost hidden gem in the Kent food community. With a sizable breakfast menu served all day, every day, the Cafe has built a reputation as one of the best ways to start your day, but the breakfast food doesn’t need to be restricted to one time of the day. “Sometimes you need an outstanding omelette for dinner,” one voter said.
Second: Tree City Coffee & Pastry
A unique breakfast opportunity located right in the thick of downtown Kent, Tree City Coffee & Pastry offers customers the choice of coming inside and relaxing for a cup of coffee and breakfast, or simply stopping by the drive thru to get their morning shot of caffeine. “A great sustainable choice for morning and lunch and also featuring local coffee and some of the best morning beverages,” said Nick Manning, a senior geology and environmental studies double major. “I get the ‘Honey Nut Crunch’ sandwich with a cup of freshly brewed coffee or a cold brew.”
Third: Rise and Shine Cafe
The Rise and Shine Cafe is a charming breakfast and lunch spot nestled in the heart of downtown Kent. The cafe is only open during the day, closing at 2 p.m. seven days a week. The food ranges from traditional pancakes and waffles to combos like the “Hometown Kent” and signature dishes like “Chef Tina’s Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes.” The cafe gives customers a cozy dining experience with friendly staff, making it a must-visit option for many Kent residents and students.
