Before rapper Key Glock will take to the M.A.C.C. Center Thursday for the Undergraduate Student Government’s annual FlashFest, students reflected on the important role his music played in their lives and shared their plans for attending the concert.

Khori Davis, a freshman sociology major, said she has been a fan of Key Glock since she was in middle school.

“I’ve loved Key Glock since middle school, so the fact that I get to see him,” Davis said.

Davis is not the only person who grew up listening to Key Glock’s music, as Myla Bridges, a freshman nursing major, said she is also very familiar with his music.

“I grew up listening to him like ‘Die Trying’ [and] ‘Mr.Glock,’ I know a couple of his songs so he’s cool,” Bridges said.

KaiLe Henry, a freshman theatre studies major, said she is looking forward to Key Glock performing his song “Russian Cream,” as it reminds her of when she was in middle school.

“[‘Russian Cream’] has that middle-school era that makes you get in a good mood, gets you ready for your day and feeling very ‘so, so fresh and clean, clean,’” Henry said.

Besides the possible songs Key Glock may perform, the opportunity to dress up is another reason to make attendees excited to attend, Kimora Greenwood, a freshman accounting major, said.

“I am more excited to get dressed and feel pretty and feel good and listen to music that makes me dance good,” Greenwood said.

Henry said she plans on bringing her cousins to campus as they are fans of Key Glock and are excited to see him perform.

With Key Glock performing at FlashFest, students who have never heard of him before, like freshman chemistry major Yasmeen Bell, said it motivated her to listen to his music.

“I saw [Key Glock] on [the university’s] Instagram, so I looked at his Instagram and I listened to his music a little bit,” Bell said.
