A trial date of Aug. 6 has been set for a former Kent State student charged with two counts of rape and one count of burglary.
A grand jury indicted McCoy Watkins, then an architecture student at the university, on March 31, 2023. According to the indictment, Watkins raped two women age 18 and 19 years old after returning to an off-campus party on North Lincoln Street on Nov. 11, 2022.
The date was set in the Portage County Common Pleas Court back in February. Watkins, who has been out on bond, rejected a plea deal from prosecutors.
