Druski, a comedian and actor, will headline Kent State’s Undergraduate Student Government’s Homecoming show on Sept. 26 in the Student Center Ballroom.
USG announced Druski as this year’s Homecoming show pick Sunday night at Blastoff, part of KSU Kickoff. The show will be interactive; USG stated students will have the chance to submit entries to participate in a “Coulda Been Records” show, Druski’s satirical record label, live from the stage.
Ariane Robinson, USG director of programming, said they plan to announce ticket sales for students and alumni by early September. Doors for the show will open at 6:30 p.m., with the show going from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Comedian Navv Greene will open the show.
USG decided on a comedy show because the organization has done comedy shows in the past, and wanted to bring in something new, Robinson said.
She said names like Kurtis Conner and Brittany Broski were in the running as they explored influencer and comedy options.
“We were kind of going in that direction,” Robinson said. “But overall, I decided to go with Druski because I felt like, when it came to wanting to reach a huge audience and who I thought students would really enjoy, I figured Druski would be the most. He kind of relates to everybody.”
Druski’s claim-to-fame comes from his comedy sketches on TikTok and Instagram. He then began collaborating with other influencers, artists and brands.
He has headlined a comedy tour and opened for artists J. Cole and Lil Baby.
“So far, it’s been nothing but positivity,” Robinson said. “I would say, like, 98% of people are very, very excited, especially because Druski, he’s such a big name right now. He’s really trending in the world of comedy.”
