During the week leading up to Homecoming, the Kent City Health Department and Kent State’s Flashes Fighting Hunger teamed up to bring free meal bags to the city.
Outside of the Kent City Health Department, Flashes Fighting Hunger brought their truck and food bags to pass out downtown.
To help with the distribution efforts, the 2024 Homecoming Court assisted in making food bags consisting of fresh produce, bread and dessert items from Trader Joe’s and the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
With the new partnership between the City of Kent and Flashes Fighting Hunger, there is a goal to bring pop-up pantries downtown every month.
