One week after its closest game of the season, the Kent State football team hit the road to take on the Bowling Green Falcons Saturday.
The Flashes were unable to improve on last week’s two-point defeat, as this time, they lost 27-6 to drop to 0-7 (0-3) while the Falcons improved to 3-4 (2-1).
Yet again, Kent State allowed its opponent to score first, and the team fell behind 3-0. After the Flashes answered back with a field goal of their own, Bowling Green scored the next 10 points.
Late in the first half, Kent State scored a field goal to cut the lead to seven, but that would be it for the offense.
After gaining a combined 483 yards in its two previous games, the Kent State offense only gained 204 yards against Bowling Green.
Junior quarterback Tommy Ulatowski threw for back-to-back career highs to open up conference play, but against Bowling Green, he was 7-of-27 passing for 78 yards and two interceptions.
Redshirt senior running back Ky Thomas was a scarce bright spot on the Flashes’ offense, rushing for a season-high 121 yards on 14 carries.
The defense gave up the fewest points it has allowed against an FBS school this season, but after surrendering 434 yards, the defense is yet to hold any opponent to under 400 yards this season.
The Flashes will play a second straight road game Oct. 26 against the Western Michigan Broncos (4-3, 3-0) at 3:30 p.m.
