The Office of Career Exploration and Development is set to promote network opportunities for students on the second floor of the D.I. Hub on Oct. 28 and Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Networking is essential for career development and success. The Meet the Employers Event was created so students can be exposed to networking while still in college and start gaining the skills and becoming comfortable with communicating in a professional tone.
Keturah Kneuss, assistant director of Career Exploration and Development, said the event is informal and students aren’t expected to dress formally. She also said students are welcome to bring resumes with them.
“If you’re going to bring your resume, make sure that someone else has reviewed it,” Kneuss said. “Either our office or another career office on campus, a faculty member or a career peer.”
Kneuss said the event will have between six and 10 employers who have time-specific opportunities or are just looking to connect with students.
“Early and often,” Kneuss said. “That’s a catchphrase we use in this office that means get exposed to careers and opportunities early in your time at Kent State. The more you get exposed to them, the more likely you are to get to a place that you want to be. Every time you do something like this, it makes you more hireable at the end, which is most students’ goal.”
