A new initiative in the Division of Academic Affairs, Transformation 2028, is designed to evolve the university’s academic structures including colleges, departments, schools and programs to better prepare students for the demands of their future careers.
“This initiative is all about creating an even better academic experience — one that is forward-thinking, innovative and aligned with the skills and knowledge the world needs,” Senior Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley said in a statement sent to all students today.
T28 is designed to provide more opportunities for learning across fields and ensure academic programs align with future careers, according to Tankersley.
Tankersley said this initiative does not involve merging or cutting programs and is designed to keep students’ academic paths on track.
“The changes we’re making will strengthen your academic experience, giving you even more opportunities to grow and succeed,” Tankersley said.
Students can share questions and ideas directly with Tankersley via an anonymous survey found here.
“We are taking this step thoughtfully and carefully, and it will roll out in phases between now and 2028,” Tankersley said. “We are excited to partner with faculty, staff and students to shape this transformation together.”
This is a developing story.
