Kozar’s seven goal effort not enough for Flashes in road loss

TheKent State women’s lacrosse team’s offense broke out early in the third minute of it’s game against Detroit Mercy with back-to-back goals by Lluna Katz and Megan Kozar. The strong start wasn’t enough as the Flashes, however, as they fell to the Titans, 16-12.
Kozar’s seven goal performance was not only good enough for the Kent State record, but also bumped her season scoring total to 14. Detroit Mercy answered in the fourth minute, however, on back to back goals from Kaitlyn Wandelt and Lexi Kinmond.
The Titans went on to score eight additional goals in the first half.
Kozar opened up the scoring in the second half for the Flashes by tallying three goals in five minutes. Kozar’s seven goal effort led Kent State, while Katz and Graceyn Dean each scored two apiece while Eva Nikolai had one.
Goalie Grace Merrill tallied 14 saves after facing 30 shots on goal. The Flashes won 16 draw controls compared to the Titans 14.
Kent State’s next game will be on Wednesday against Saint Francis University at 3 p.m. The next home game for the Flashes is Friday against Gardner-Webb.
