I watch A LOT of movies. If you know me, there’s no surprise there, but I also like to talk about them. In this modern day of age, streaming is the go-to for most Americans, leaving movie theaters struggling to make ends meet.
Today, I’m going to tell you about some of the best new movies that are either out now or coming out soon, so you can go see them in theaters to help save movie theaters.
As of Nov. 12, movie theaters are showcasing a diverse array of films catering to various tastes. Here are some standout movies currently playing or coming soon:
“Wicked”
Adapted from the acclaimed Broadway musical, “Wicked” explores the untold stories of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande), the witches of Oz. Directed by Jon M. Chu, this musical delves into themes of friendship, identity and societal expectations. The film has garnered significant anticipation and is set to release Nov. 22.
“Gladiator II”
Ridley Scott returns with “Gladiator II,” a sequel to his 2000 epic. The story follows a grown-up Lucius (Paul Mescal) as he navigates the political landscape of ancient Rome. The film also features performances by Denzel Washington and Connie Nielsen. Scheduled for release Nov. 22, it promises intense action and drama. This one is my most anticipated film of 2024.
“Red One”
“Red One” is a holiday-themed action-comedy starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans. The plot centers on a mission to rescue Santa Claus, blending festive elements with high-octane sequences. Set for release Nov. 15, it’s poised to be a family-friendly hit this season.
“Heretic”
For horror enthusiasts, “Heretic” offers a chilling experience. Starring Hugh Grant in a villainous role, the film delves into dark themes and supernatural elements. It has been noted for its intense atmosphere and compelling performances.
“Venom: The Last Dance”
This highly anticipated sequel brings back Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and his symbiote alter-ego, Venom. “Venom: The Last Dance” promises to up the ante with darker storylines and explosive action as Eddie faces new threats while grappling with his relationship with the symbiote. Fans of the Marvel anti-hero will be excited to see what’s in store in this new chapter, which hit theaters Oct. 24.
“Moana 2”
Families can look forward to “Moana 2,” the sequel to Disney’s beloved animated film. Continuing the adventures of Moana, this installment promises new songs and heartwarming moments. It’s scheduled to hit theaters Nov. 27.
“Here”
Directed by Robert Zemeckis, “Here” is a drama based on the graphic novel by Richard McGuire. The film presents a unique narrative, focusing on a single location over various time periods, showcasing the lives of its inhabitants. Starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, it offers a contemplative viewing experience.
These films provide a rich tapestry of genres and narratives, ensuring moviegoers have a variety of options to enjoy in theaters this November. You can visit theaters locally at Kent Plaza Cinemas.
