Effective Dec. 1, Eboni Pringle, Ph.D. will be named the senior vice president for student life after assuming the position on an interim basis in August 2023.
“I am honored to serve in this capacity,” Pringle said. “My previous roles and experiences align well with the division’s focus on student success, and I am excited to work with the talented and dedicated professionals in the division to provide experiences and services that support student well-being, belonging and co-curricular learning.”
Pringle’s new title will provide stability for the Division of Student Life during a period of significant change for higher education, including Kent State, President Diacon said in an email sent out to the Kent State community.
Prior to assuming the role of Senior Vice President, Pringle served as the senior associate vice president of Student Access and Support and the dean of University College.
“I feel it is important that the Division of Student Life has strong and permanent leadership in place as it focuses on student well-being in tumultuous times, fills the critical role of the dean of students and addresses key operational issues for the university’s future,” Diacon stated in the email.
The Division of Student Life encompasses over 25 departments and offices such as well-being, housing, culinary, recreation, engagement and more to support students.
“Our division continues to focus on providing an exceptional student experience for both undergraduate and graduate students,” Pringle said. “We are examining opportunities to build upon the great work that has already been done in support of this focus. We are finalizing our strategic plan, and look forward to sharing our areas of emphasis with our university community in the very near future.”
Since 1998, Pringle has held numerous positions at Kent State, serving as a residence hall director, financial aid counselor, assistant director of admissions, assistant director, associate director and executive director of Student Success Programs, and an academic advisor, assistant dean and dean for University College.
“What I, and others with whom I have consulted, find most compelling about Dr. Pringle’s leadership is her laser focus on student success and well-being and her tireless and empathetic outreach to individuals and groups, both internally and externally,” Diacon stated.
Pringle has been recognized with the Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate from the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, President’s Excellence Award from Kent State and the 30 for the Future Award from the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce.
