The Kent State football team has tied a program record of 21 consecutive losses after losing to Buffalo (8-4, 6-2) 43-7 in the final game of the season Tuesday.
The Flashes’ offense gained just 208 yards on the day and did not score until the second half when the team was already down 26-0.
Junior quarterback Tommy Ulatowski threw 12 passes, completing seven of them for 91 yards and a touchdown, which went to graduate receiver Luke Floriea.
Freshman receiver Jay Jay Ethridge stepped up in the absence of redshirt sophomore receiver Chrishon McCray, leading the team in receptions and yards with six catches for 64 yards.
With senior running back Ky Thomas also out with an injury, freshman running back Jahzae Kimbrough was the team’s leading rusher with 65 yards on 14 carries for an average of 4.64 yards per carry.
Defensively, Kent State gave up over 400 yards for the 13th-consecutive game, allowing the Bulls to gain 446.
Despite allowing Buffalo to move up and down the field without much resistance, the defense forced an interception and a fumble.
Buffalo’s junior running back, Al-Jay Henderson, rushed for 185 yards on 30 attempts for an average of 6.17 yards per attempt.
The Flashes will head into the offseason with a losing streak tied for the 20th-longest in FBS history.
