Marie Bukowski art 3

Bukowski said she changes formats and colors between pieces to indicate different meanings. A horizontal piece indicates a landscape, and a square piece is neutral; it can be anything. A vertical piece indicates portraiture and the human body, she said.
Bukowski used natural colors, which she defines as either natural to an outdoor landscape or natural to an internal landscape.
“The idea would be then, what are these spaces?,” she said. “Are these spaces that surround you, or are they spaces within your own body?”
For this piece, “Cold Memories; Warm Dreams #21,” Bukowski suggested one possible internal landscape: “Maybe that’s what the inside of a blood vessel looks like.”
