Kent State Stark campus held its 10th annual Boo U fall festival on Thursday evening, marking a decade of fun family events for Halloween and the fall season.

The festival held many different activities for young children including trick-or-treating, a photo station, games and a “Swamp Walk” in which families were able to tour the pond on campus and learn about wetland research from Kent State students.

Trick-or-treating took place at different stations created by student organizations around the campus. During the “Swamp Walk”, they were able to view an owl from the Sippo Lake Wildlife Conservation Center and watch science experiments demonstrated by students.

They were also able to play games and enter a coloring contest to win a backpack full of prizes during the event.

Kent Stark students and student organizations volunteered to dress up and help with the events of the evening.

Ashley Spellman, a senior communications major, has been a volunteer for Boo U for three years as a part of her involvement in undergraduate student government.  

“I just think it’s a great opportunity for the community to really come together in one area and represent not only our campus, but also bring people to our community to see what we do and see the students involved,” Spellman said.
