Ernst’s first career goal leads Flashes to conference win
September 24, 2017
Coming into Sunday’s matchup against Eastern Michigan, Kent State midfielder Rachel Ernst had yet to score at the collegiate level.
That all changed Sunday, as the freshman netted her first career goal 24 minutes into their conference matchup against Eastern Michigan (3-7-2, 0-1 Mid-American Conference), the margin in which the Flashes (6-3-1, 2-0 MAC) would go on to win by.
In total, the Flashes outshot the Eagles 15-8, three of the which came off of the feet of Karli Paracca and Kristen Brots.
Ernt’s goal came off of a clearance from Karly Hellstrom, who then shot it into the top shelf from 10 yards out.
Junior Ashleah McDonald recorded her third shutout of the season in goal.
The Flashes will be back in action this Friday when they take Miami (OH) in Oxford, OH. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
