Photo Story: Young heros encourage Akron Marathon runners
September 25, 2017
During this year’s FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon and Team Relay, which is part of the Akron Children’s Hospital Marathon Race Series, 14 children dressed up as a superhero and joined family, friends and community members to cheer on runners in the marathon. The marathon took place Saturday through downtown Akron and boasted hundreds of runners.
All 14 children are patients at Akron Children’s Hospital and were selected to represent the hospital at the marathon to empower runners, just as they continue to work towards achieving good health.
These children receive treatment at the hospital for things like cleft lip and palate, Down Syndrome, Alexander Disease, Cerebral Palsy and many others.
