The third annual Run the World 5K brought students, faculty, staff and community members together on Risman Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 9, to fundraise for study abroad scholarships. The race raised enough money to fund 10 $1,000 scholarships. Scholarship winners will be announced at the Education Abroad Expo this Thursday, Sept. 14.

Edward Butch, academic recruitment and retention director for the College of Arts and Sciences, and Kristin Stasiowski, assistant dean of Internal Programs and Education Abroad for the College of Arts and Sciences, founded the race to raise money to fund study abroad scholarships available to both Kent main campus and regional campus students as no scholarship existed for both campuses.

David Carlyn claimed first place with a time of 17:41. Elizabeth Herndon achieved first place for women and fifth overall.
