Kent State’s wrestling (2-14, 0-7 Mid-American Conference) struggles continued Saturday, as they only managed to get one winner in their 40-3 loss to Central Michigan University (9-2, 6-2 MAC) on Sunday.

“Central Michigan is a good team and they wrestle in all positions really well,” coach Jim Andrassy said.

The Flashes lone winner was sophomore Devin Nye, who went against Central Michigan’s Tyrus Kemp in the 285-pound weight class. Nye had an escape and takedown in the second period to increase his early lead to 3-1. He followed that up by recording another takedown in the third period to make the score 5-2, the winning score.

“Devin wrestled well enough to win,” Andrassy said. “He did what he had to do to win.”

Isaac Bast, a 174-pounder, started his match off with a 2-1 lead against Central Michigan’s CJ Brucki. However, he eventually lost by a 11-2 major decision.

The Flashes close out their regular season next Sunday when they travel to Norfolk, Virginia to take on Old Dominion University at 1 p.m.
