KSU Police investigating attempted Summit Street robbery

Kent State Police is investigating an attempted robbery that allegedly took place Friday night on Summit Street near the Kent State Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
The university sent out a FlashAlert around 8 p.m. notifying students of the incident and advising to avoid the area.

A male suspect allegedly pulled a knife on, and demanded money from, a male pedestrian at approximately 7:20 p.m. near the Rec Center, according to Eric Mansfield, the executive director of university media relations. The victim then reportedly pushed the suspect, who fled westbound.
Mansfield said the victim was not injured. As of Friday evening, no arrests have been made.
The alert sent out shortly after the incident identified the suspect as a black male in his mid-20s wearing a hoodie and jeans.
Kent State Police is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the department at 330-672-2212.
