Judge grants removal of Holley’s GPS monitor

Kent State senior Nathan Holley appeared before Portage County Common Pleas Court Judge Laurie Pittman Tuesday morning for a supplemental indictment.
Prosecutors charged Holley with felonious assault and first-degree kidnapping of a female student on Nov. 7. KentWired has chosen to withhold the name of the alleged victim.
The former safety for Kent State’s football team and his defense entered a not guilty plea and asked for a bond modification on his $25,000 bond at 10 percent.
Holley also sought the removal of a GPS apparatus so he may train for the NFL combine. Judge Pittman granted the removal of the device.
During the proceeding, Holley’s defense explained that he will train in Minnesota for the combine. Pittman granted the out-of-state move under the requirement that Holley notify the State of Ohio of his return 48 hours prior so the victim may be notified.
Pittman reiterated a no-contact obligation with the victim. According to the prosecutors, the victim had been in contact via text messaging and Snapchat after the initial court hearings. The victim was concerned of what would happen if she did not keep in contact with Holley, prosecutors said.
Holley’s trial is set for Jan. 24, with the pre-trial on Jan 18.
